EVERESTING: ELEVATION CHALLENGE SEPTEMBER

“FIENDISHLY SIMPLE, YET BRUTALLY HARD. EVERESTING IS THE MOST DIFFICULT CLIMBING CHALLENGE IN THE WORLD.”

The concept of Everesting is simple: Pick any hill, anywhere in the world and complete repeats of it in a single activity until you climb 8,848m – the equivalent height of Mt Everest.

In George we a fortunate to have the perfect route to do an official everesting attempt. The George Peak VK route is a perfect balance between distance and vert. The Outeniqua mountains is a great area to do lots of vert.

With this Challange we 

Here is a list of categories for the September Challenge:

  • EVERESTING: 8x George peak
  • Kilimanjaro climb: 5x George Peak
  • Thabana Ntlenyana: 3x George Peak
  • VK Challenge: 1 x George Peak
  • All of the above during the month of September
  • Most Vert during the month of September
  • Tagging the most 1000m peaks during September
  • Tagging the most 1000m peaks in 24 hours or 48 hours

Race Details:

  • Date: 13 to 15 September | 1 to 30 September
  • Main start: Fri: 12h00 or 17h30
  • Location: Top of Arbour Road, George. Cars must be parked at Trial Kiosk

>On race weekend you can start your attempt any time from Friday to Sunday. Do as many laps as you like over the weekend. If you want to complete in one of the official categories above it needs to be done consecutively without leaving the route. 

>Do as much vert during the month of September. Any vert counts, you dont have to do it on the George VK.  Make use of the everesting weekend to do the bulk of your vert. 

>Consecutive days doing George Peak 

>Most George Peak ascents for the month

>Most 1000m peaks in 24hours or the month

1 lap is equal to 1105meters of ascend and decent. Distance per lap will be 8.6km

We will have an aid station inside the gate at the top of Arbour Road. Basic aid station will be provided. You can also leave a personal drop bag at the aid station.

 Entry Fee:

R150 to sign up for the September vert challenge (Not compulsory, but you won't be in contention for prizes, leaderboard updates and awesome lucky draws)

13-15 September: R250 to be part of the group and make use of the aid station and setup for the weekend. This will also include drop bag at aid station. Infrastructure for your seconds to support, media and other facilities. All signed up runners will receive an arm band which will allow you and supporters to make use of our facilities.
